A Labor of Love

4/4/64 a beautiful young woman said “I do” to a handsome young man. Thus began a journey that has been going on for now 50 years. This beautiful young woman and handsome young man I am privileged to say are my parents. They are a testament to what a marriage is all about. As 2013 was coming to an end I came to the realization that I needed to attempt in some way to express my love for them and wish them a happy 50 with 50 more to come. I wanted it to be something special and even represent in some small way the amount of hard work they have put into this marriage. No good marriage is without hard work. I decided what better than a wedding ring quilt. The colours chosen, the green and yellow, were my mother’s bridal party colours. So the very end of December I began my crochet marathon. It was a lot of work, but given who it was for, worth every second I invested in it. I love my mom and dad and would do anything for them. So to the slightly older but still beautiful young woman and slightly older but still handsome young man, happy anniversary, I love you very much and my wish for the two of you is that your next 50 years are full of love as the first 50 years.
